BACKGROUND
The AIDS pandemic is so serious as to likely to become the greatest catastrophe in human history. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that is thought to lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in humans in which the immune system fails, leading to life-threatening opportunistic infections. However, there are some anomalies that strongly suggest that this conventional wisdom is incorrect and that belief in it is blocking progress in the development of new treatments for AIDS and of novel ways of preventing its spread.
According to the latest work on AIDS by Dr. Harold Foster, AIDS patients are very deficient in four nutrients: selenium, cysteine, glutamine and tryptophan. His research published in Reversing AIDS and Preventing Recurrence indicates that replenishing these nutrients can stop or reverse AIDS, and in some cases possibly prevent its recurrence.
ORTHOMOLECULAR APPROACH
Dr. Harold Foster's research demonstrates that as HIV-1 replicates it removes selenium, cysteine, glutamine and tryptophan from seropositive individuals.
Orthomolecular treatment of HIV and AIDS could therefore include the use of the following supplements:
Glutathione
Glutathione peroxidase
Selenium
Cysteine
Glutamine
Tryptophan
* A customized program must be developed by an orthomolecular practitioner
